New York (December 30 2006) – The G.Jezarian Racing team conducted their first test for the upcoming 2007 season today under overcast skies in New York at an undisclosed location. The team was able to familiarize themselves with the Swift chassis and the fresh Toyota race engine.

The cold weather caused some tire adhesion issues but the test was deemed a success. Gregory Jezarian, primary driver, received a large amount of seat time as he continues to get settled in the black and gold #40.

Gregory Jezarian – Driver
“The car performed as well as can be expected considering the conditions. This engine felt strong but we couldn’t get the power down without massive wheelspin. We used the test to identify the key issues we need to work on over the winter months. It was a great way to end 2006!” test3.jpg

Monty Mathisen – Team Manager
“The test was a success, the entire G.Jezarian team is very happy with the outcome of today. I am very impressed with the car’s performance. We were able to learn a lot about the car and get some excellent data. We will now take what we learned and go back to work preparing for the 2007 racing season.”

G. Jezarian Racing began installation of the fresh Toyota Atlantic power plant in the Swift chassis this week. The process is quite straightforward and quick but since this car is new to us, we’re examining all potential problem areas in great detail.

After the chassis is supported at the appropriate height, the entire transaxle is first removed as a unit and the engine is bolted in place at the rear tub bulkhead on top and bottom. We then align the clutch on the flywheel before mating the rear of the car to the engine and frame and prepare for final assembly.
