G.Jezarian Racing Turns First Laps of 2007
Summit Point, WV–G.Jezarian Racing and driver Gregory Jezarian turned their first laps of 2007 during a private test day on Wednesday April 11th. Despite the threat of showers looming and sub-50 degree temperatures, Jezarian was able to turn a series of competitive laps in the morning.
The unreleased times show promise for the team to compete on the national level throughout the 2007 racing season.
The test didn’t go quite as planned as some minor teething problems occurred with the Swift DB-4 Formula Atlantic racer. Thanks to the talented Kris Kaiser (K-HILL Motorsports) the team was able to overcome a destroyed fourth gear, in addition to a slight problem with the shift linkage that controls the five-speed Hewland Racing transmission. These problems only cost Jezarian minutes instead of hours. And apart from those two problems, the 240 horsepower open wheel race car capable of speeds in excess of 180mph performed flawlessly.
Driver Gregory Jezarian was very happy with the outcome of the day, “The car felt solid and planted through the medium to high speed corners, I know there’s a lot more left but today’s goal was primarily to get acclimated to the new car and get comfortable. I’d run 4 hard reconnaissance laps, and Kris Kaiser would do a few chassis or shock adjustments and then I’d do it again. Each tweak gave me a little more in the corners. I was surprised my times got down so low, so quickly and I ran my fastest lap just as the rain started to hit my visor. I’m confident if we’d had a few more sessions the times would have dropped further. I’m excited to get back in the car.”
With the private test at Summit Point in the books, the team heads to Lime Rock Park in Connecticut for another test on the week of April 22nd.
