JEZARIAN TO CAMPAIGN LOTUS IN SOUTH AMERICA
Jezarian adds: “Racing in Guyana is an exciting way to finish my season and I have to thank Kawall and the Skyline team for the opportunity. Guyana has some of the best racing fans in the world and I can’t wait to feel the energy. The South Dakota track is quite short and tight I suspect times will be in the 40sec per lap range. I’m thinking Lime Rock Park type speeds. Even though we’re down on horsepower compared with the other cars in class, we’re lighter and more nimble. After racing Formula Fords I’m used to lightweight, momentum type cars. At only 1500lbs, The Lotus will fit my driving style fine and I’m ready for the challenge.”
Jezarian Racing Welcomes Big Sid’s Vincati as a Sponsor
Matthew Biberman, author of the bestselling memoir Big Sid’s Vincati, is now a sponsor of G. Jezarian Racing.
As passionate a motorcyclist as he is an automotive racer, Jezarian felt an immediate connection to Matthew while reading Biberman’s book. Big Sid’s Vincati tells how he and his father learned to reconnect by building together one now legendary custom motorcycle: the “Vincati”. As Jezarian explains, “While reading Matthew’s story, I kept recalling my own relationship with my father, and by the time I had put the book down, I knew I had to reach out to him.”
The two men met shortly after Biberman taped a promotional video with Jay Leno that was shot out in Burbank. The experience had made Biberman realize that he needed to a way to introduce more car enthusiasts to the story of Big Sid’s Vincati. Matthew explains, “Like Greg, I too was struck by our shared experiences. Growing up around cars and bikes really can forge strong bonds between fathers and sons, bonds that are so strong they can draw people together and make them friends. Thanks to this connection, I saw immediately that the opportunity to support Jezarian Racing was one I could not pass up and was delighted to learn that Greg felt the same way about my book.”
The son of Big Sid, a legendary motorcycle tuner, Matthew Biberman has enjoyed immediate success with Big Sid’s Vincati. Stanley Fish, perhaps America’s leading literary critic, lauded the book in his New York Times blog, favorably comparing it to the now classic Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance. The American Motorcyle Association awarded the Vincati Best Modern Café Racer at its annual Vintage Days show, where the Bibermans were featured speakers. Among many other awards and appearances, Biberman especially prizes the opportunity to have the Vincati displayed at the 2009 Pebble Beach Car Show and at the Barber Motorsports Museum during its 2009 Fall Fest. In addition to Leno, Barber and Fish, Biberman has received praise from rock legend Mark Knopfler who called Big Sid’s Vincati “a classic.”
Jezarian’s own racing success makes for a good match. In his first outing since outfitting his Formula Atlantic car with the Big Sid’s Vincati logos, Jezarian finished second and won the Optimum Battery’s hard charging Award. The upcoming 2009 season promises to be a memorable one, with Biberman and the Vincati scheduled to make appearances at VIR, Summit Point and Mid Ohio.

JEZARIAN Earns Podium & “Hard Charger” Award at NJMP
Millville, NJ (Oct. 4, 2009) — The OPTIMA Batteries Sprint Series race came to an exciting close at New Jersey Motorsports Park’s 2.25mi , 14 turn Thunderbolt circuit. The action-packed race that saw the No. 40 BigSid.com Swift Formula Atlantic driver, Gregory Jezarian, earn a podium spot and win the prestigious Optimum Battery Hard Charger Award. Jezarian took the green in forth spot but lost two positions before turn one. “As soon as we went green, somehow the box got hung up between first and second gear,” Jezarian said, “that lost me two spots before I could get it going.”
As the field stretched out, Jezarian pressed on and out braked the sixth place car going into turn one and then reclaimed a few more spots before his car got noticeably loose. Crew chief Marco Santiago said, “When we saw him sideways coming on the straight, we knew it was time to change the strategy. I told him to soften the bars and try and stick it out. There’s not much we could do from from the tower but we could see most of the track and where he was losing time.”
As the remaining laps unfolded, the Jezarian began using more and more track and kicking up dirt when running wide. Despite the close calls and several particularly lurid slides, he manage to hang on until the checker earning a second place in class and the Hard Charger award for his car control.
“I went into the race knowing we didn’t have the tires to compete up front. By lap 5, I felt the tires just go away and my times dropped considerably. The crew had me soften the bars all the way and adjust my lines accordingly. I did the best I could with what we had and I’m happy with the result. Thanks to Matthew Biberman and his Big Sid’s Vincati support, we couldn’t have done this without your help.”

Cole Morgan represents G. JEZARIAN at SCCA Runoffs
ELKHART LAKE, Wis. (Sept. 26, 2009) – Road America is a legendary fixture in the racing community. Racers relish the circuit’s challenging turns, curves and high-speed straights. The track follows the sweeping, rolling hills of the glacially-formed terrain providing drivers and riders with dramatic elevation changes. Many world champions have tested their skills here and return yearly to set new records. This year, former pro-F2000 champion, Cole Morgan, put G. Jezarian Fine Jewelry in front of a national audience with a strong showing at SCCA’s most historic and storied event in North America, the National Championship Runoffs.
Morgan, of Light House Point, FL qualified his G. JEZARIAN liveried Swift DB-6 to a sixth place start in the ultra competitive Formula Continental class at the 4-mile Wisconsin road course but not without problems before the race. Morgan adds, “We spent the week testing and struggled with a power issue. It was frustrating, but we finally got the car running strong on race day.”
Race day saw Morgan take the green and jump up to third spot within two laps and then began to set his sights on second place. “I do a lot of practice on cold tires and it pays off”, said Morgan after the race. The battle was then interrupted when a seven-car accident through the high-speed “Kink” section of the circuit eliminated six cars from the race and brought out a black flag that left the cars sitting on pit lane, awaiting a restart. Unfortunately, the black flag shortened the race from its regularly scheduled distance of 13-laps to a timed race, with just 20 minutes remaining when racing resumed. When the green flew again, Morgan couldn’t hold off the charge from behind and was passed on lap seven giving up third place. Six laps later, the checker fell and Morgan finished forth place just one second behind the third place podium finisher.
The Swift DB-6 chassis which Morgan drives was built in the early 1990’s and was one of the oldest cars in the race. Competing against more developed, modern equipment put the team at an immediate handicap which makes Morgan’s performance even more outstanding. “Cole’s entry was a real dark horse. I told him using this car is like bringing a knife to a gun fight but I couldn’t think of anyone better equipped to handle the task.” Jezarian then added, “The fact that Cole was even able to qualify for the Runoffs by not only entering, but winning the required number of SCCA National races to receive an invitation is amazing. Most people didn’t know that Cole accomplished this feat all while undergoing his infantry training for the U.S. Army. That speaks volumes about him not only as a driver, but as a man. Guys like this don’t come around very often.”
Cole Morgan: “It was a very exciting race and I can’t thank Greg Jezarian enough for his support along with my engineer James Lee and my dad. We’ll be back next year for another shot.”
